THUNDER BAY – The crash of a Pontiac into Fort William Gardens earlier this week has not only damaged the facility but now Thunder Bay Police report that the driver, a forty-four-year-old now faces charges.

Thunder Bay Police report the driver of a vehicle that hit the Fort Williams Gardens has been charged with Impaired Driving and Failing to Provide a Breath Sample.

City Engineers have been examining the facility and the damage.

The Box Office at Fort William Gardens is remaining open for regular hours.

Overall across the city there have been a number of calls that Thunder Bay Police have dealt with over the past 36 hours.

Thunder Bay Police have dealt with 90 calls for service. These include twenty-nine calls for Quality of Life incidents, the majority were alcohol related with twenty-two calls of that total. There were five assaults, and four weapons offences.

In addition there were seven break and enters reported to police. Police were also called for twenty robbery calls.

There were a number of incidents at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition, including an assault on a young man. Sadly the fun and enjoyment of the fair and midway doesn’t carry all the way to all the patrons of this fun event.
