THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Thunder Bay golfer Evan DeGrazia shot a first round 74 at the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Staal Foundation Open.

DeGrazia says that he hit some great drives, and great approach shots, but his putter was a “little cold”. He figures he needs to get down into the sixties to make the cut and play this weekend.

The young Thunder Bay golfer didn’t expect to play in this year’s tournament but was a late addition.

He promised to re-focus overnight and hit some solid putts on Friday.Conditions at Whitewater Golf course started a little damp this morning, tee times were pushed back by an hour.

Even DeGrazia is two over. If the putter were working he figures he could have been a lot lower.

Players are shooting some pretty hot scores out on Whitewater today. At 17:22, the leader is David Pastore from the United States who is seven under par through 14 holes.

Full scoring can be found at www.staalopen.ca.

The last players off the tee were at 3:00PM EDT. That means for locals hoping to catch some of the action at the Staal Foundation out at Whitewater there will be some early evening golf.
