THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – For much of Northwestern Ontario, excluding the far North and the areas around Lake Superior there are Heat Warnings in effect.
Environment Canada says that the warm and humid airmass will stay put today and tonight.
Heat Warning in effect for:
- Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
- Upsala – Raith
First stretch of hot weather of the season continues this weekend for much of Northern Ontario.
Daytime highs are expected to reach near 30 degrees today, with lows again tonight in the 16 to 20 degree range.
Latest indications suggest temperatures on Monday may be a couple degrees lower than today in many regions. Considerably cooler and less humid air is expected to arrive Monday night, bringing this spell of hot weather to an end.
Heat illnesses include heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat fainting, heat edema (swelling of hands, feet and ankles), heat rash and heat cramps (muscle cramps).
Reschedule or plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day.
Take cool showers or baths until you feel refreshed.
Block sun out by closing awnings, curtains or blinds during the day.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
