KENORA – POLITICS – “Liberal Leader, Justin Trudeau, committed that a Liberal government would build the long overdue Freedom Road to Shoal Lake 40,” stated Kenora Liberal candidate Bob Nault.
“This is a major announcement for our riding,” continued Nault. “For too long, the government has mislead and abandoned the people of Shoal Lake 40. Our commitment today is clear. A Liberal government would build the Freedom Road. This announcement is a reflection that over the past decade, Shoal Lake 40 has been working proactivity with the province of Manitoba and the city of Winnipeg to realize their dream for guaranteed access to and from their community. “
“Living conditions on Shoal Lake are unacceptable. Building the Freedom Road is an important first step to improving these conditions and allowing future generations in Shoal Lake 40 to prosper,” added Nault. Nault also pointed out that the announcement has significant ramifications for the residents of the Kenora riding as a whole.
“Shoal Lake 40 has made it clear to the Government of Canada that without the Freedom Road, the twinning of Highway 17 from Kenora to the Manitoba border would not happen. Today’s announcement from Mr. Trudeau makes it clear that under a Liberal government, Highway 17 is much closer to being twinned.”
