THUNDER BAY – LIVING – Putting on a fundraising event takes an incredible amount of hard work, organization, and most importantly, people.
Thanks to TD Canada Trust, the Health Sciences Foundation has been fortunate to have the support of employees on several of its event planning committees.
“Our recent Elekta Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction is a prime example of TD’s support,” said Maureen Mills, Senior Special Event Officer, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. “Three TD staff formed an integral part of our committee, each putting in about 50 hours of time preparing and hosting the event. They are incredible, and we couldn’t make the committee work without TD’s support of those employees’ volunteer time.”
In addition to the Elekta Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction, another TD employee is part of the planning committee for the upcoming 15th Annual Bell Motorcycle Ride for Dad. “Our events are quite different, and our volunteers have the opportunity to work on an event that most closely fits with their interests,” added Mills. “Again, having the support of TD in encouraging this employee to be involved really makes a difference to what we can do.”
“Not only does TD continue to loan us a very valuable resource in its employees, they are also committed sponsors of many of our events, helping us to raise more money for local healthcare equipment at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre,” said Mills. “Every dollar we raise, through our events, goes to the purchase of new equipment so our families and friends have access to world-class healthcare when they need it.”
Laurie Clarke, Elekta Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction Committee Member and Mobile Mortgage Specialist, TD Canada Trust, summed up why TD is so supportive of the healthcare in our community. “Our health matters. As a member of TD Canada Trust, I’m happy to help people with the financial aspect of their lives, and when I volunteer with the Health Sciences Foundation, I can help ensure they lead healthy lives with the services available at our Health Sciences Centre.”
