New Business Serving Seniors in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – LIVING – Brighter Days Elderly Services provides compassionate services that help seniors maintain a healthy well-being by staying physically and mentally active.

This Thunder Bay based business opened in November 2014, and owner Katrina Sutherland has been building the company and reaching out to help her clients ever since.

Katrina Sutherland has had a life long interest in helping seniors. She has coupled that interest with her educational career at Lakehead University and Confederation College into Brighter Days Elderly Services.

Brighter Days Elderly Services helps seniors get the most out of their lives through recreation and leisure. A trusted and trained companion will help them stay physically, socially and mentally active, in the convenience of their own home, or by accompanying them on outings in the community.

Whether your aging loved one is living with a type of dementia, stroke, loss of spouse, or is simply bored, Brighter Days will provide compassionate, non-medical assistance with a broad range of day-to-day activities.

With a focus on safety and well-being, Brighter Days Elderly Services’ Therapeutic Recreation services are personalized and tailored exclusively for each clients individual needs. Qualified recreational therapist assists seniors to maintain activities and hobbies while exploring new options to stay active.

Services include but are not limited to:

• Exercise (walking, swimming, yoga)
• Conversation over coffee or tea
• Puzzles, Games, Crafts
• Pet Visiting
• Outings / Shopping
• Baking, Cooking
• Gardening
• Community Events & Socializing
• Programs through Skype
• Pampering (hair styling, nails)
• Music

Initial consultations are free. Katrina will meet with you, and with your parents or grandparents to set up a program that will fit your needs.
