DRYDEN – Dryden Police were called yesterday to the Pine Crescent area by a resident who had some lawn ornaments stolen. They had been put out on Tuesday, and Wednesday morning they were gone. Stolen were 6 flat stone ornaments.
Police have also been investigating a robbery which was reported on the 24th of April at 2:00 a.m. The victim indicated that he was approached by a male and a female while outside the Greyhound bus depot, and was asked for a cigarette. The suspects then pulled out a knife and demanded his wallet; they left on foot heading westbound. The male suspect is described as Caucasian wearing a black hoody and the female as First Nations, also wearing a black hoody.
As a result of a break and enter to a downtown location on April 23rd, Police have arrested three persons who are charged with break and enter – 36-year-old Erin Smith, 24-year-old Travis Polkinghorne and 20-year-old Tamura Kozowy. In addition, Smith is charged with possession of stolen property and failing to comply with an undertaking, and Polkinghorne is charged with theft under $5000.00. All three made appearances in bail court this week and have been released on conditions. The business was entered by breaking a window at which time the cash register was stolen.
Following a lengthy investigation into a fraud involving lottery tickets, two former employees of Mohawk have been charged with fraud over $5000.00. Joanne Gibson, age 51 and Ryan Stawicki, 30 years of age of Dryden will make their first appearance on May 25th.
