THUNDER BAY – LIVING – Thunder Bay Postal Workers are holding their 6th annual “Stamp Out Hunger” city-wide food drive on Saturday May 2nd in support of the Regional Food Distribution Association (RFDA).
The food drive is run by the employees of Canada Post with support from their local management. This year, in addition to the city food drive, the “Posties” will present the RFDA with food donated by the employees during the entire month of April. To date, the Posties have raised approximately $181,391.00 for the RFDA.
Also joining in the efforts this year are the outlying community post offices in Kaministiquia and Terrace Bay. Food collected there will support their local food banks.
This year, the distinct neon green flyer will be delivered to your mailbox starting on Tuesday, April 28. Please place your food donation in a waterproof bag with the flyer attached (to increase visibility), and hang it from your mailbox or place outside your front door, by 10:00 a.m. The postal workers will be in your neighbourhood on Saturday May 2nd to collect your food donations. Collection will continue until 4 p.m. If yours is missed, simply place your donation back out on Monday, May 4 and it will be collected.
There are also drop off spots at participating local grocery stores around the city, the Thunder Bay Armoury and the mail processing plant at 1005 Alloy Drive. Food donated at the Armoury will entitle the contributor to free admission to the Northwestern Ontario Cadets Drill Competition and Band Displays.
