THUNDER BAY – LIVING – One of Thunder Bay’s best spring events is the annual Folklore Festival. The Folklore Festival attracts a growing crowd of visitors every year. Get ready, Folklore Festival 2015 is on this weekend, May 2-3.
There is a lot to do this weekend at Folklore. Including The Imbayakunas on Saturday night. The feature entertainers from Ecuador and Toronto will take to the stage and bring their special HOT style of music to the Folklore stage.
“Travel the World in 48 Hours” at the 42nd Folklore Festival May 2-3 at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario presented by the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association. Tantalizing international foods, incredible entertainment, “shop-the-world” booths, an activity-packed Children’s Area, and local artists on site await you.

Folklore Festival’s Jeanetty Jumah shares, “The first festival started at TBMA and was small because of the venue with 200 or so involved from what I understand”.
“I started volunteering over 20 years ago and in the earlier years we hoped for 4.000 to 6,000. With more use of Social Media, the growth of TBMA, closer TBMA-school and youth connections, the increased promotional support of participating groups and a proactive approach to media coverage, we have seen the numbers rise dramatically. Keeping our prices the same for all the years since I started volunteering (just my knowledge) except for one year, has also contributed to increased numbers. Families, seniors and students can afford to come especially with the free activities in the Children’s Area. There are very few affordable events for families in Thunder Bay. Folklore also takes pride in being accessible. This is why I personally believe visitors come yearly to Folklore Festival.”
