TbaytelTHUNDER BAY – BUSINESS – On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, several wireless service providers across Canada participated in an Industry Canada spectrum auction for available AWS-3 spectrum holdings.

Tbaytel participated in the auction by submitting a bid and did not acquire any additional spectrum.

Although AWS-3 spectrum can be used for wireless service to support a number of applications, including both voice and data services, it is not currently supported by the majority of mobile devices on the market. The device ecosystem is not anticipated to fully support AWS-3 spectrum for approximately two years.

Tbaytel currently possesses significant spectrum holdings, both owned and leased, which support current network elements as well as customer devices used in the marketplace today. This spectrum is sufficient to meet current demand and accommodate for the growth and expansion of both Tbaytel’s HSPA and LTE networks into the future.

Tbaytel is continually evaluating the allocation of its existing spectrum holdings to determine the best use and is well-positioned to meet the needs of its valued customers today and in the future.
