Fort William Historical Park Prepares for Voyageur Winter Carnival

THUNDER BAY – There is plenty of fun in store for the entire family during the thirteenth annual Voyageur Winter Carnival hosted by Fort William Historical Park this Family Day Long Weekend, February 14th to 16th. Enjoyable indoor and outdoor recreational activities, games, entertainment and contests highlight this exciting celebration of winter. The Carnival runs from 11am to 5 pm daily, including Monday, February 16th which is the Family Day holiday.

Visitors can enjoy tubing runs, the giant snow maze, skating and ‘curling on the Kam,’ snowshoeing, tubing hill, solar viewing, carnival games, cabane à sucre or sugar shack hosted by Club Canadien Francais, indoor crafts, family entertainment, magicians, and traditional Voyageur games.

Contests include log sawing, name the baby lambs, kids three-legged race, family “moose ski” race, tug of war, family relay, snowsnake, and ‘drawing to the button’ on the Kam. Contests vary each day so please check the FWHP website for schedules.

2015 features some exciting new attractions at the Voyageur Winter Carnival such as the addition of Helicopter Rides from the Fort down the Kam River over Kakabeka Falls. There will also be a Guinness Book of World Records attempt on Sunday, February 15th at 2:30 pm. We invite everyone to join us in achieving this exciting goal.

Admission is: $10.00 per day for Adults, and $8.00 for Seniors, Students age 13+, and Youths age 6 to 12, and free for kids age 5 and under. Buy a three-day pass for the price of two days. Passes can be purchased at Admissions in the Visitor Centre from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday.
