SOUTHWEST ASIA – United States and coalition military forces resumed their daily attacks on both the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorists in Syria and Iraq,  stated Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials.

The strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to eliminate the ISIL terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, the region, and the wider international community. The destruction of ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group’s ability to project terror and conduct operations, officials said.

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Reports of U.S. Hostage Killed

There are unconfirmed reports that an American hostage reportedly held by ISIL has been killed. ISIL is reporting the woman from Arizona was killed in an air raid by Jordanian fighter aircraft.

Jordan is reporting that their fighters were not attacking near the reported location the woman was at. The hostage as been identified as Kayla Jean Mueller. ISIL says “She was killed during Muslim prayers — which usually take place around midday on Fridays — in airstrikes that targeted “the same location for more than an hour.”

The White House says, “We are obviously deeply concerned by these reports. We have not at this time seen any evidence that corroborates ISIL’s claim.”
