Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyTHUNDER BAY – It will be a busy weekend for the Thunder Bay Queens as three of the member clubs will hit the tournament trail.

The Sportop midget AA side will travel to Winnipeg to compete in the Shaftesbury Titans Prep Winter Classic while both the RBC Dominion Securities bantam AA and Tim Hortons peewee Queens will head to Duluth to take part in the St. Luke’s Icebreaker Invitational.

A total of 16 teams will square off for the title in Manitoba with Thunder Bay opening up game play Friday as they take on the Yellowhead Chiefs at 9:15 a.m.

Game 2 of the day for the Sportop Queens has them tangling with the Pursuit of Excellence Black from Kelowna, B.C. at 3:45 p.m.

They then wrap-up round robin play Saturday at 10:45 a.m. vs. the Minnesota Revolution under-16 squad.

Meanwhile down in Duluth the bantam AA Queens open up against Osseo/Maple Grove Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.

That will be followed up with a 8:30 a.m. encounter Saturday vs. Edina Green before meeting the Faribault Falcons at 12:30 p.m. later in the day.

As for the Tim Hortons peewees they take to the ice to begin play in Duluth Friday as well as they face-off with the Wayzata Trojans at 9 p.m.

Two more tilts are on the slate Saturday beginning with a 10:45 a.m. contest against the White Bear Lake Bears.

They will then battle with the Fargo Freeze in a 3:15 p.m. start.

Medal round games for each tournament go Sunday.
