PARIS – INTERNATIONAL – The Mayor of Paris is calling for a show of unity in the city following the horrific attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine.

In a statement issued this afternoon Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris states: “I feel a sense of absolute horror at the attack that has been perpetrated against Charlie Hebdo. This is scary act of causing the death of twelve people and seriously injuring many. All my sympathy goes these martyrs victims of Liberty , freedom of the press, pillar of democracy and the Republic .

On behalf of the Parisians as on my own behalf, I assure the families, relatives and colleagues of the deceased or injured people of my total solidarity and my unfailing support.

This massacre saddens our country, our city and our democracy. We have just been struck at the heart of our freedom. We must respond to this act by the sacred union around the principles of the Republic.

I give my full support to police and firefighters deployed on the ground to help the victims and challenge the terrorists responsible for the attack.

With all elected from Paris, I call on all Republicans and defenders of freedom to march through recollection, jointly and silently from the Republic Square on Thursday the 18th.”

Condemnation of the terror attacks are coming in from around the world.
