Northshore of Lake Superior Under Weather Warning

319

THUNDER BAY – The winter weather continues across the north shore of Lake Superior. Environment Canada has weather warnings out covering the region from east of Nipigon to Sault Ste. Marie. An Alberta clipper continues to bring another round of snow to much of Northern Ontario this evening. Snow is falling over regions along the north shore of Lake Superior. However, strong southerly winds ahead of the disturbance will steer some embedded snow squall activity from Lake Superior into the warned regions this evening. This will enhance snowfall totals with about 15 to 25 centimetres expected by this evening.

Strong southwest winds of 40 km/h with gusts up to 60 km/h are also expected along the shores of Lake Superior to produce local blowing snow with reduced visibilities.

Those conditions are expected to make driving very hazardous overnight.

Snowfall intensity has weakened from the west and the warning for Nipigon-Rossport regions has ended.
