THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation and Intercity Shopping Centre congratulate Sierra Beaton on winning the $10,000 cash prize in the 15th annual Intercity Shopping Centre Ultimate 50/50 Cash Draw.

Stacey Ball of Intercity Shopping Centre drew the winning ticket in the food court on Tuesday, December 23rd.  The tickets sold out early this year thanks to a successful social media campaign provided by Sencia Canada. Sencia’s goal was to sell all tickets by December 7th, and they were very close. The last ticket sold the morning of December 13th.

With the tickets sold out, Sierra got to take home the maximum 50/50 draw prize of $10,000 just days before Christmas.

Sierra works in Intercity Mall and was nearby when the draw took place. “I was on break and eating lunch when I got the call that I won. I stood up and screamed. It was an unreal feeling.” She plans to spend her winnings on a trip to Jamaica, her first hot weather getaway during winter.

Something new was added to the draw this year – an early bird draw for a $500 Intercity Shopping Centre Gift Card, donated by Sencia Canada, The early bird winner was Savana Marino.

“Our thanks to all who purchased draw tickets for this year’s draw.” says Glenn Craig, President & CEO of the Health Sciences Foundation. “And thank you to Intercity Shopping Centre for its continuing support for this event, which has raised a total of $145,000 over the last 15 years in support of cancer care in Northwestern Ontario.”

Proceeds from this year’s draw support the Exceptional Cancer Care Campaign to provide HOPE to cancer patients and their families and ensure that every person who faces cancer has the best possible chance of surviving their disease. The Campaign has a $5.9 million goal and funds raised will provide leading-edge equipment for cancer Diagnoses, Treatment and Research.
