Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyST. PAUL, Minn. – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens wrapped up play at Minnesota Mayhem tournament in St. Paul, Minn., with a 1-2-1 record after dropping their finale 3-2, in overtime, to the Westman Wildcats of Winnipeg.

Samantha Isbell gave Thunder Bay the lead in this one notching the lone tally of the opening period on an assist by Paige Sullivan.

The Wildcats pulled even in the second stanza before Sullivan buried a feed from Michelle Smith early in the third to put the Queens back on top.

Westman would force OT with just 31 seconds remaining in regulation and would go on to win it in extra time.

Shots on goal favoured the Wildcats 28-16 with Fayth Chambers suffering the setback.

After opening the 10-team tourney with a 4-1 loss to the Pembina Valley Hawks Friday, Thunder Bay split a pair of contests Saturday.

They were blanked 2-0 by the Shaftesbury Prep Titans with Bailey Chenier making 24 stops in defeat, but followed that up with a 5-2 victory over another squad from Manitoba, the Eastman Selects.

Following a scoreless opening frame Thunder Bay struck three times in a 10-minute span to go up 3-0 on a pair of tallies by Isbell and a solo effort courtesy of Sullivan.

The two sides then traded two markers apiece in the third to round out the scoring with Stefanie Hayward and Sarah Dodic both finding the back on the net in the triumph. The pair also picked up earlier assists in the contest.
