THUNDER BAY – UPDATED – An accident has closed access to Fort William First Nation again. Chippewa Road is closed west of Quarry Road.

As a result, access in and out of Fort William First Nation is closed in both directions.

Thunder Bay Police report that a motor vehicle investigation has forced both the closure.

Hydro crews are on sight and they are replacing power poles and lines.

The James Street Bridge has been closed since October 2013, and both the CN Rail and City of Thunder Bay have been stuck in talks to solve the problem.

Thunder Bay Police Service are advising motorists that access to and from Fort William First Nations on Chippewa Road and City Road is currently limited to one lane of traffic due to a motor vehicle collision investigation that occurred late last night.

Police are encouraging motorists to avoid the area until complete re-opening of the roadway, that is expected to occur later in the day.
