THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Best Western Nor’Wester Hotel. The special guest speaker at this meeting Dr. Rafi Hofstein is one that many people in the community might like to hear.
During the 1980’s, Dr. Rafi Hofstein held key roles in organizations that were pivotal in the development of Israel’s world-leading biotechnology sector. Dr. Hofstein joined MaRS Innovation in Toronto as President and CEO in June, 2009. MaRS Innovation is the commercialization agent for the exceptional discovery pipeline of 16 leading Ontario academic institutions. MaRS Innovation is very excited to welcome Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute as its newest member. MaRS Innovation was conceived as a vehicle to integrate the discovery assets and resources of its members, with significant further leverage from government and private sector, in an effort to turn the most promising technologies from its members into products and services for local and global markets.
With the growth we are experiencing from the Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute and its spin-off enterprises, The Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce Dr. Hofstein to the Thunder Bay business community, and hear how the vision and workings of their model in Toronto can help animate this sector in Thunder Bay.
