THUNDER BAY – CRIME – Thunder Bay Police have two suspects in custody over the homicide that happened on Marks Street.
In a media statement issued earlier today, Thunder Bay Police Service state, “Two people have been charged by the Criminal Investigations Branch with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the murder of 51 year old Rene Sortolovo. Mr. Sortolovo’s body was discovered in his North Marks Street residence on Sunday October 19, 2014. His death was deemed a homicide on October 20, 2014 following a post mortem examination.
Investigators believe that there was a relationship between the two accused. One of the accused was known to the victim. Robbery is believed to be the motive in this crime.
The two accused were located in the city’s south core just before 6:00 p.m. yesterday. They were taken into custody by the Community Response Team without incident.
A 17 year old female and 22 year old male have been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. Both are from Thunder Bay. The name of the 22 year old male will be released once he has made his first appearance tomorrow.
