Pistorius could serve sentence in overcrowded jail
CAPETOWN SA – INTERNATIONAL – Oscar Pistorius will learn his fate at his sentencing hearing on Monday. If the “Bladerunner” is jailed, he could serve it at Capetown’s Pollsmoor prison.
Former Inmate Allen Heyl reports, “It’s not a pleasant experience:, the waiting lines, the environment, the smell.”
The former inmate says the overcrowded conditions will likely be a shock for the famous athlete.
Heyl also believes Pistorius’ wealth won’t go far behind bars. “People, who have got a lot of money, are going to stand out from the rest of the people, as it prevails in our society. So to think that somehow suddenly we’ve got this nirvana of equality, we’re all equal in that we are all prisoners, but that’s where it ends. So, someone with a very strong personality will manifest himself in one way or another.”
