ATTAWAPISKAT – CRIME – The OPP and the Nishnawbe-Aski Police have had a success in Attawapiskat.
On September 28, 2014, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Drug Unit, Attawapiskat Detachment members, along with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit intercepted illegal prescription pills destined for the First Nation Community of Attawapiskat.
Police seized Oxycodone prescription pills with an estimated street value of seventeen thousand five-hundred ($17,500.00) dollars.
Forty-seven (47) year-old Richard Edwards a resident of Timmins, Ontario was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
EDWARDS was released on conditions and will next appear in court in Attawapiskat on November 19, 2014.
Attawapiskat First Nation is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario.
