THUNDER BAY – Lyle Hoffman has been arrested. The murder suspect who was reported to have been in Thunder Bay a few weeks ago, a sighting later proven false was arrested today in Minnesota.
Lyle “Ty” Hoffman has been charged in the killing four weeks ago of his former romantic and business partner, was arrested in Shakopee, police there said Thursday.
Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office state that Hoffman was taken into custody peacefully shortly after 10:15AM CST after officers answered a report of “a suspicious male” in the Southbridge Crossing Shopping Center near an Arby’s restaurant on the 8000 block of Old Carriage Court.
The arrest has ended a month-long manhunt across Northwestern Ontario and Minnesota.
“The [chief deputy] county attorney was present and got pulled out of the room by a police officer,” said Geoff Engelhart, referring to Ron Hocevar. “He came back in the room, made an announcement to the room and we all applauded.”
