Missing and Murdered Women Honoured at Full Moon Memory Walk
THUNDER BAY – The Full Moon Memory Walk to honour and remember the missing and murdered Anishinabe women started at Thunder Bay City Hall, and headed out along May Street, to Victoria Avenue and along Simpson Street and onto the site for drumming and a feast.
There were a number of speakers including Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs, Assembly of Manitoba Grand Chief Derek Nepinak, Fort William First Nation Chief Georjann Morriseau, Deputy Police Chief Andy Hall, and Cameron Burgess of the Metis Nation of Ontario.

Cameron Burgess stated, “It is clear, as we approach the 2000 mark of murdered and missing women, that if this involved any other ethnic group in Canada other than our people, the country would be outraged”.

This year, the command officers from the RCMP, OPP, Thunder Bay Police Service, NAPS, and Anishinabe Police Service walked with the walkers. Thunder Bay Police Service Deputy Chief Hay represented Chief of Police J.P. Lesveque who was in Ottawa today.
