THUNDER BAY – CRIME – UPDATED – Thunder Bay Police have cancelled the public safety alert. The person thought to be Lyle Hoffman was not.
Thunder Bay Police have contained an area around Riverside Drive and Central Avenue. A man wanted in connection with a murder in Arden Hills Minnesota is believed to be at large in this area.
We are advising anyone in the area of Riverside Drive and Central Avenue to remain indoors until advised otherwise by police. We are asking motorists to avoid this area. A search is underway.
The subject is Lyle HOFFMAN if Minneapolis Minnesota. HOFFMAN is described as being 6’2” tall, 230 lbs, green eyes and has grey short hair.
Lyle HOFFMAN is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach this individual. Call police if you spot him.
On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office issued a revised wanted poster for Lyle Marvin “Ty” Hoffman. Hoffman is wanted in connection with the August 11, 2014 murder of Kelly Phillips in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
The new wanted poster reflects a reward that has more than doubled to up to $25,000 offered by Crime Stoppers. The funds for the reward were raised by the community.
The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging the public to share the link to the wanted poster widely as investigators are following leads that Hoffman may have fled the state and may be anywhere in the country.
Kelly Phillips, Vice President and General Counsel for Boston Scientific, was shot three times and killed in a gas station parking lot. Investigators identified Hoffman, Phillips’ former business partner, as the shooter. The handgun used in the shooting has not been recovered. Hoffman should be considered armed and dangerous.
