Cornwall Street Incident Results in Charges

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – CRIME News – Thunder Bay Police report that they responded to a disturbance outside a residence on Cornwall Street just after 4:00AM on July 20, 2014.

When uniformed officers arrived they located a female on the ground with a laceration to her head.

Apparently an altercation inside an apartment lead to a thirty-six year old female being assaulted by a thirty-three year old male.

The man then exited the building, and threw a beer bottle breaking a window of one of the apartments.

Two males and a 24 year old female then exited the building to deal with this male.

A struggle ensued and one of the males was bitten by the 33 year old male.

A second female exited building and struck the 24 year old female over the head with a shovel.

The female was taken to hospital by ambulance. She remains in the hospital.

Twenty-eight year old Leanne Potson was arrested and charged with for Aggravated Assault.

Potson made a court appearance, and was remanded in custody. Thirty-three year old Archie Potson was also arrested and has been charged with two counts of assault and mischief.

Archie Potson has been released with an August 8, 2014 court date.Alcohol was a factor in this incident.
