SCHREIBER – CRIME NEWS – Schreiber OPP have laid charges over an incident that happened on July 10, 2014. OPP report that at approximately 1:35PM EDT, members of the Schreiber Detachment received a complaint of a male being abducted at Highway 17, near the Township of Killraine, west of Schreiber, Ontario.

In a media release, OPP state, “A male who was escorting a second male running across Canada to raise awareness for diabetes, called 911 to report to police that the runner was abducted by two males at gunpoint and forced into a small motor vehicle. While responding to the call, police received a second call from the complainant who reported it was a prank. Two males known to the runner had planned the event as a prank on the escorting male. The weapons used in the prank were not real”.

As a result of the OPP investigation, the three individuals involved in the prank were arrested and charged for Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The charged males are 25 year old Vincent Chabot of McMasterville, Quebec, 24 year old Sebastien St-Martin of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and the runner 34 year old Sebastien Sasseville of Quebec City, Quebec.

All three were released and are to appear in Schreiber Court on October 9, 2014 to answer to the charge.
