THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Staal Foundation Open is only 46 days away. The arrival of warm weather has tournament organizers ramping up efforts in Thunder Bay to make sure the event is a huge success. Support across the community is growing, and the event slated for the Whitewater Golf Club from July 14th to 20th is starting to roar.
Jordan Staal and the entire team were at Thunder Bay City Hall today to share the message that volunteers are needed to ensure that the tournament is the success it surely will be.
“We are excited that our community will be hosting this great event,” shared Mayor Keith Hobbs. “Our administration has worked diligently with event organizers”.
Local National Hockey League (NHL) star and Staal Family Foundation Jordan Staal said, “Thunder Bay is our home and our family couldn’t be happier supporting an event that will bring national and international attention to our community while doing such important charity work”.
“Our whole family will be participating in the week,” added Staal. “We are really looking forward to it.”
The call is out for caddies. Rick Bevilacqua, the Caddie Chair stated that the tournament is looking for people 16 years of age and up who would be capable of carrying the golf bag for the pros. Bevilacqua stated that it is a great opportunity to get some fantastic memories from the tournament.
