OTTAWA – Complete statements from Chiefs convened at the National Press Gallery in Ottawa on Wednesday. The Manitoba Chiefs are deadset against the federal legislation to change the Aboriginal Education Act.

Manitoba Grand Chief Derek Nepinak stated, “The process needs to happen in open meetings and discussions”.

Speakers include Grand Chief Delisle, Chief Craig Makinaw of the Ermineskin Cree Nation, Okimaw Wallace Fox of the Onion Lake Cree Nation, Gordon Peters of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians, and Grand Chief Derek Nepinak of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
