Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyTHUNDER BAY – Sports – Toronto Hockey Fans interested in seeing some really good hockey, now that the Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs can enjoy some good hockey this weekend… 😉 (Sorry diehard Leafs fans). Each of the five Thunder Bay Queens representative teams will be in Toronto this weekend to compete in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association provincial championships.

The Sportop midget AA side will be the first to see game action as they take to the ice Thursday evening at 9:15 p.m. vs. the Mississauga Chiefs.

All of the Queens’ clubs playing twice Friday with the midget AA’s taking on Barrie at 3 p.m. and Brantford at 10:15 p.m.

The Norcan Tours and Travel midget A Queens commence with a 1 p.m. encounter with the Nepean Wildcats followed by a 9 p.m. match-up with the Kingston Ice Wolves.

As for the First Class Gas bantam AA squad they being by taking on Mississauaga at 10:45 a.m. before wrapping up their day against Kanata – Ottawa at 7:30 p.m.

The Manshield Contruction bantam A Queens begin their quest for OWHA gold Friday vs. the Stratford Aces at 10:30 a.m. and then tangle with the Oakville Hornets at 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Triad Contracting peewees face-off against the Owen Sound Ice Hawks in their first game, which gets underway at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Sarnia Lady Sting provides the competition in their next game when they meet at 5:15 p.m.

Saturday sees all but the midget AA wrapping up round robin play as the peewees take on North Simcoe at 9:15 a.m., the bantam AA’s square off with Guelph at 9:30 a.m., the bantam A Queens play Mississauga at 11:45 a.m. while the Norcan midget A’s take on Durham West at noon.

Qualification and quarter-final contests go Saturday evening while medal round action in all divisions go Sunday.

There is extra incentive for the Sportop midget AA Queens as they will also be vying for the berth at the ESSO Cup Canadian female midget championship April 20-26 in Stoney Creek, Ont.
