FORT SEVERN – On Monday, March 31, 2014, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service members at the Fort Severn Detachment began an investigation following the report of a residential fire.

At this time police can confirm several people did escape the residential fire and that one individual has not yet been accounted for.  Police cannot confirm any deaths in relation to the fire at this time.

This investigation is continuing with the NAPS North West Region Crime Unit, the OPP Identification Unit, and the Ontario Fire Marshall at the scene.

Further updates will be released as they become available.

Fort Severn First Nation is approximately 850 km north of Thunder Bay and 715 km northeast of Red Lake.
