NDP Leader Andrea Horwath in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY – Politics – Thunder Bay NDP supporters in Thunder Bay will be choosing their candidate on Sunday. NDP Leader Andrea Horwath will be attending the meeting. The New Democrats are looking to knock off incumbent Bill Mauro.
In a media statement, Thunder Bay-Atikokan NDP Riding Association state “We are holding their nomination meeting to nominate the candidate who will win the riding in the next provincial election”.
There are two candidates seeking represent the Ontario NDP. The two are Madge Richardson, the Executive director of the North Superior Workplace Planning Board and Mary Kozorys the President of the Lakehead Social Planning Council.
The Liberal Party of Ontario candidate will be Bill Mauro MPP. Harold Wilson is the Progressive Conservative candidate.

Thunder Bay Atikokan has seen a very tight race over the past elections. Bill Mauro won in 2011 with 39% of the votes.
In Thunder Bay Superior North, the Liberals have nominated Michael Gravelle, the Minister of Northern Development and Mines. The New Democrat nominee will be Andrew Foulds who is currently representing Current River on Thunder Bay City Council. Tamara Johnson will represent the Progressive Conservatives.

The TBSN PCs are hosting a fundraiser on February 19th. Jayson Stoppel shares, “We believe in order to be successful in the next election we need to discuss the team surrounding the candidate and define the issues affecting our region.
