The Lakehead University Thunderwolves edged the Ryerson Rams 4-3 Friday night in front of a lively crowd of 3,143. 

Thunderwolve Ryan Magill put the game away for the Lakehead squad with twenty-three seconds remaining in the game.

Thunderwolves captain Andrew Wilkins got the Twolves on the scoreboard first. Wilkins stuffed a rebound past Ryerson goaltender Troy Passingham. Cody Alcock and Keith Grondin got the assists on the goal at 8:41 of the opening frame.

After a Thunderwolves’ giveaway in the neutral zone, Ryerson’s Victor Terreri tied it up putting the puck behind Lakehead netminder Justin McDonald.

Justin McDonald kept the Wolves competitive in the Second Period when he made a huge save early in the second period on a Ryerson two-on-one. play. Taking the offensive, Thunderwolves defenceman Luke Maw swatted in a rebound from a Keith Grondin slap-shot just 1:59 into the period to make it 2-1 for the Wolves.

The fans kept the Wolves in the match and with only 23 seconds left the winning goal put the Thunderwolves into the win column.
