Thunder Bay International Airport Flies High

THUNDER BAY – Travel – If you have been travelling by air, chances are you have been to the Thunder Bay International Airport. Along with just over three quarters of a million other visitors, you were part of a new record at the TBIAA.

The Thunder Bay International Airport serviced more customers than ever before in 2013.

Passenger volumes reached a total of 779,634 passengers during the year, up by 2.4% from 2012.

Scott McFadden, President & CEO of the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority (TBIAA) expressed appreciation to the Airport’s airline and passenger customers who chose to fly through Thunder Bay.

“We have to thank our customers for choosing to fly from Thunder Bay,” stated McFadden. “Despite moderating economic conditions, we had the pleasure of serving another record number of passengers”.

Mr. McFadden cited the arrival of United Airlines to Thunder Bay as one of the contributing factors. “United offers short connection times and competitive fares to US and global destinations, providing Thunder Bay with a direct link to one of the most significant economic hubs in the world, and low cost alternatives to fly virtually anywhere.

TBIAA is the private, non-shareholder corporation responsible for the development and operation of the Thunder Bay International Airport. TBIAA receives no government funding for the operation of the Airport. Economic activity related to the Airport is responsible for over $.5 billion dollars in GDP annually and almost 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
