Young Women Help Cancer Patients

THUNDER BAY – Health – What started as an idea between a special Aunt and a young woman, soon grew into a project among a few close friends, all from St. Patrick’s High School. Lexi Adduono and her Aunt Bev Maronese thought it would be wonderful to donate some handmade blankets to cancer patients and their families staying at the Tbaytel Tamarack House.  Using fabric donated by Fabricland, five young ladies made and then presented the blankets, which were warmly received. Guests at the Tamarack House are able to use the blanket while staying at the facility and then bring the blanket home as a keepsake.

“Having a cozy blanket gives that little extra bit of comfort while reading, knitting or watching TV,” commented Heather Vita, Manager, Marketing & Communications, Health Sciences Foundation, whose office is located in the Tbaytel Tamarack House. “I’ve seen these blankets being well used and appreciated by those who are staying here at this ‘home-away-from-home’.”
