Snow Zone for Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Weather = Thunder Bay is headed into the snow zone. After days of record cold temperatures, setting records for wind chill, an Alberta clipper is expected to track across the Great Lakes on Friday into Saturday.

This low pressure system will bring an end to the bitterly cold temperatures which have been occurring. Current information suggests 15 cm of snow is likely for regions along the Trans Canada highway by Friday night. This snowfall warning will likely be extended eastwards to regions near Lake Superior for Friday night into Saturday.

Extreme Wind Chill Tonight

Wintery blasts are not letting go early however, the bitterly cold Arctic ridge of high pressure has established itself across Northern Ontario. Extreme wind chill values ranging from minus 40 to minus 45 are expected once again this evening and overnight.

It is advised to dress warmly and cover any exposed skin as much as possible when heading outdoors. At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.
