Ontario PCs Will Scrap Liberal Energy Programs

THUNDER BAY – Politics- Ontario Progressive Conservative Energy Critic Lisa MacLeod says it is unprecedented that the Ontario Provincial Police are engaged in investigating the Premier’s Office. “The Liberals have saddled taxpayers and businesses with high energy rates,” charges MacLeod. “We don’t need another Liberal plan; we need a new team to lead this file.”

MacLeod adds, “Next week, the Liberals will release their latest plan for energy in Ontario. This, as families across Ontario struggle with high hydro bills. Earlier this week, Chiarelli told reporters that high energy rates are just a ‘fact of life’ ”.

“The Liberals are playing politics with our energy system. All week, I’ve had people telling me about their sky-high hydro bills. And now, Bob Chiarelli says it’s their problem?” said MacLeod. “That’s no way to talk to hard-working families across our province, especially when they’re footing the bill for Liberal mistakes.”

The PCs are promising to scrap the current programs on solar and wind. On the wind energy issue, MacLeod says that the Liberals have blown it on the file.

In Thunder Bay the controversial issue remains the Big Thunder Wind Farm. When asked about what the solution is, MacLeod says decisions on Wind Energy projects must be made locally.

The PC energy critic claims that there are two policies in Ontario, one for the GTA where plants and wind farms are cancelled to save seats, and another policy for the rest of Ontario.

The political battle reigns on.
