Breaking NewsKENORA – The TransCanada Highway is closed between Vermilion Bay and Highway 71. That is impacting travel as drivers will have to detour. From Thunder Bay take the south route heading west at Shabaqua Corners. From Winnipeg it is the southerly route from Kenora.

The closure is giving school students in the area a day off.

KENORA EAST – VERMILION BAY WEST –  Please be advised that the OPP have confirmed that the TransCanada is closed between Vermilion Bay and Hwy. #71 due to a tractor trailer accident.   This means that our buses travelling west (VB33 and VB31) will not be able to travel west of Vermilion Bay.

As well,  KN30 is not able to get to Sioux Narrows to pick up students in Sioux Narrows travelling back along Hwy. #71. Kenora Transportation report, “It was recommended that our bus turn back which we did.”

KN30 will begin pick-ups at Long Bow Lake. The local Sioux Narrows bus KN50 will be operating.

As of 7:20EST, there are no other Kenora area school bus cancellations to report.  Where there was some snowfall accumulation overnight, buses may experience  some delays.
