Workforce Planning in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Business – North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB) hosted a workshop at the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park on November 23, 2013. The workshop was titled Social Innovation and Leadership for Complex Challenges.  Drs. Connie Nelson and Mirella Stroink from Lakehead University were invited to lead the discussion. 

Thomas Townsend, a Visiting Researcher University of Ottawa – Centre of Public Management and Policy, Sonja Wainio, executive director of Northwest Training and Adjustment Board, Frank Pullia, Board Co-Chair of NSWPB, and directors of NSWPB, Élodie Bedouet, David Farrell, John Hatton, Michelle McKenzie-Lander, Terri McKirdy and Doris Rossi attended the workshop.

Discussions in the workshop were focused on the complexity of problems facing the workforce as it tries to adapt to the changing dynamic of a post-recession economy, and the role of the NSWPB within this adaptive cycle from a leadership and complex theory point of view. Madge Richardson, executive director of NSWPB opened the workshop at 9:30AM and closed it at 2:30PM.

In-depth Discussion Panel on Current Issues

Working with NetNewsLedger, a panel discussion on the issues facing the Thunder Bay and North of Superior region was held. The discussion offers insight into the major issues facing the local market and what is needed to effect positive change in our region.
