Studentvote.ca – Students Make their votes heard

THUNDER BAY – The first election results in Thunder Bay which can be released are from the students in our city.

Across Ontario more than 1000 schools have reported and over 375,000 votes have been counted for mayor, council and school board trustee candidates.

The project was to mark the 2010 municipal and school board elections, students across the province have participated in a parallel election run by Student Vote in partnership with Local Government Week and the Ontario Government.
Between October 17 and 23, students under the voting age conducted a vote on local mayoral, council and school board trustee candidates.

The results of the student vote in Thunder Bay, conducted under the student votes election for Mayor are:

Keith Hobbs 461
Lynn Peterson 146
Frank Pullia 66
Jeff Irwin 35
Brian Kwasny 20
Colin Burridge 13

Of interest in Toronto, the students narrowly chose George Smitherman over Rob Ford.
