Bearskin Airlines Crash Update
RED LAKE – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has a team en-route to Red Lake to investigate the cause of Sunday’s fatal airplane crash. The Bearskin Airlines Fairchild Metroliner was headed to Winnipeg having started the flight in Sioux Lookout.
Two passengers survived the crash. The two pilots, and three passengers perished in the crash.
The survivors include a 50year-old woman who is from Winnipeg along with a 29 year old man also from Winnipeg. The two were taken from the accident scene with non-life threatening injuries.

Hydro One reports that there are still over 900 customers who remain without power. Last night the utility was forecasting the power would be on in the early morning hours of Monday morning.
The update on the Hydro One website reports that about 400 customers have had their power restored overnight.
The plane reportedly came down just short of the runway. When it crashed it took out some power lines impacting service in Balmertown and Red Lake.
Hydro Out in Red Lake Area
Red Lake shares, Hydro One estimates that the power outage effecting McKenzie Island and Cochenour may not be restored until late evening on Monday, November 11, 2013. The Municipality will update residents as per Hydro One’s notices.
Highway 125 may be closed at Rahill Beach Road and Nungessor Road. Residents may have to re-route via McMarmac Road and East Bay Access Road (new Rubicon Road).
The Red Lake Recreation Centre will be open at 8:30 a.m. Monday for McKenzie Island and Cochenour residents if required.
