OPP Closed Highway 17 Saturday Night

THUNDER BAY – OPP report that a serious accident happened on Highway 17 just east of English River. The Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene just before 11PM EDT on Saturday night.

When officers arrived, they reported that a west-bound pickup truck had collided with an east-bound commercial vehicle.

The driver of the commercial vehicle and the occupants of the pickup were all killed in crash.

but police say none of their identities have been confirmed. It is not known how many people were in the pickup.

Two other commercial vehicles were also damaged in the collision. However there were no additional injuries.

Highway 17 between Upsala and Ignace re-opened Sunday morning.
