THUNDER BAY – CBC Radio, or as it was known forty years ago, when Doug Ward was assigned the job of station manager, as CBQ 800 is partying today.

The radio studio this morning is full of special guests, and local residents who are celebrating with CBC today.

Doug Ward was assigned the job of putting CBQ 800 on the air, and started in October and had to have the station on air by December.

Residents are invited down to the CBC Studios on Miles Street in the beautiful downtown Fort William Business District today to join the celebrations.

Thunder Bay has a long history of solid radio. Today with Dougall Media and Acadia Broadcasting there is a solid choice of options for morning and daily radio listeners. Radio remains a fixture for many people in the course of their day as a fast source for news and entertainment.

With the Internet, Thunder Bay is now a global city, with former residents able to tune in to keep in touch with the local news and happening online.
