Drug Bust by Thunder Bay Police Takes $659k Off Streets
THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police are showing off a major bust of an major oxycodone ring in the city.
On August 26, 2013 Drug Enforcement Unit officers arrested two Serbian nationals in Thunder Bay in connection with a drug trafficking investigation. The arrest of the males took place without incident at 9:35EDT in a Memorial Avenue parking lot. A search warrant was executed later in the day which resulted in a major drug seizure.
Investigators were able to seize a total of 3,299 Oxycodone pills with a street value of $659,000.00. It is alleged that the pills were destined for drug distribution in Thunder Bay. The bulk of the seizure took place after a search of a Memorial Avenue motel room after the arrest of the two males.
79 year old Andy Ljubomir Radic and 73 year old Branislav Vuksanovic have been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2)
- Trafficking CDSA 5(1)
- Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
Both Radic and Vuksanovic have been remanded into custody with a court date of August 29, 2013.
The Thunder Bay Drug Enforcement Unit consists of members from The Thunder Bay Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police – Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau.
