THUNDER BAY – It is not the start to the academic year that Lakehead University, or the City of Thunder Bay wanted. The Thunder Bay Police Service report that “A 22 year old male is in critical condition following an assault early Sunday morning. A group of approximately 5 males in their early twenties attempted to crash a party at a Darwin Crescent residence around 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Two males from the house went outside and a confrontation began. This confrontation escalated as the two groups reached Newton Street”.
The two Darwin Crescent residents became involved in a fight with the larger group. A nearby resident called 911 to report the confrontation. The group involved in the assault had fled the scene. A 22 year old male was transported to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by Superior North EMS. The other resident from Darwin Crescent was not injured.
Investigators do not believe that a weapon was involved in this incident.
The victim is a Lakehead University student. The members of the group responsible for the assault may have also been L.U. students. The Criminal Investigations Branch of the T.B.P.S. is seeking the identity of the suspects.
All of the suspects are described as Caucasian males in their early 20’s.

– one wore a Carheart jacket
– one was tall and thin with long brown hair
– one had blonde spiked hair with average height and wore a blue hoodie
– one had curly hair and a beard
