“The demands on hydro are expected to increase significantly and this proposed conversion is the most efficient and cost effective method of meeting those needs. This development is crucial to our economy growth and sustainability,” says Northern Superior Regional Grand Chief Peter Collins. “Furthermore, it will benefit our local communities and citizens in ensuring adequate and cost effective service overall.”
“The City of Thunder Bay, along with local partners, have worked diligently in coming up with a cost effective and sustainable plan of action. We are all aware of the limited resources and high costs placed on the everyday consumer for energy. This plan will allow us to meet these needs, still serve our communities and improve overall service provision throughout the region,” says Regional Chief Collins.
The City of Thunder Bay has requested support from the province in meeting these crucial energy demands and following through with the Thunder Bay Station conversion. The need is proven and the options, as presented, allow for the most responsible and sustainable choice.
