NIPIGON – Sports – The Ministry of Natural Resources is seeking the public’s help to identify the person or persons responsible for leaving 51 walleye to spoil.
The whole and uncleaned fish were discarded 12 kilometres north of Nipigon on Limestone Lake Road, approximately one kilometre east of Trans-Canada Highway 11/17.
A member of the public notified the ministry’s Nipigon District Office of the abandoned fish on May 26, 2013.
Wasted Walleye a Crime
The ministry reminds the public that walleye are currently spawning or have just spawned and are particularly vulnerable at this time of year.
It is illegal to destroy, or to allow to spoil, fish which have been caught and are suitable for food.
