THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – After a wild weekend, Sunday night was a lot quieter for Thunder Bay Police. There were twenty-seven Quality of Life calls, nineteen were liquor related. In addition, uniformed officers dealt with three weapons offences.
There were two sexual assaults, and eight assaults over the reporting period.
Wild weekend winds down for Police
Over the weekend police were kept busy dealing with a large number of alcohol related offences.
Police were also working on promoting their new Zone Policing program and encouraging local residents to join the program.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 – 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. @ Intercity Mall – Food Court Area
Thursday, May 16, 2013 – 9:30 to 11:30 @ 55+ Center on River Street
During the day today, police were on site at the Court House in the morning to deal with traffic control and other potential issues with the crane collapse.
Officers were also called to deal with a disturbance at Victoriaville just after lunchtime. Two units responded to that call. In recent weeks there is a notable increased police presence in the downtown South Core. There are street patrols during the day, and increased car patrols in the downtown South Core.
This increased police presence is resulting in a far greater comfort level for local merchants and their customers.
