THUNDER BAY – Aboriginal youth are continuing the march to make sure their voices are heard. Youth 4 Lakes are headed to Ottawa. They were in Thunder Bay this week. Action is being taken by Youth 4 Lakes to educate Canadians about the need to protect water for future generations. They are walking two thousand kilometers over 45 days from Manitoba to Ottawa, Ontario to raise awareness about water protection for all Canadians.
Supporters of Youth 4 Lakes and water conservation met the walkers as they walked into Thunder Bay at 3:00 pm on April 11, 2013.

Thunder Mountain Women Drum Group welcomed the youth with a traditional song and drummed alongside everyone walking through the streets of Thunder Bay to Fort William First Nation.
Members of Fort William First Nation greeted the youth and supporters with traditional songs and a feast. A sharing circle occurred to thank the youth for their leadership, courage, wisdom and respect they have to raise water protection awareness, to walk across Canada and to talk to Canadian Government officials.
On April 12, 2013 the youth will be taking a day of rest and rejuvenation. They will be hosted for the day by Fort William First Nation.
At 9:00 am on April 13, 2013, Youth 4 Lakes and supporters will be meeting at the Thunder Bay Marina Park, Spirit Garden to start walking to the Terry Fox Monument. The youth will continue walking to Ottawa, Ontario from there.
All peoples and visitors of Thunder Bay, Fort William First Nation Reserve and local regions are encouraged to invest their time and support by walking with the brave youth. This is an opportunity for all Canadians to encourage the Canadian Government to protect drinking water for all Canadians.
The Youth 4 Lakes are facilitating water protection change by educating and involving Canadians about the threats to water and how we as Canadians can plan to protect water by identifying, planning and managing water threats.
Supporters of the Youth 4 Lakes are asking everyone in the surrounding areas to support the youth by coming out to the meet the youth, walking with them and offering shelter, food and new clothing at each stop they make.
