SACHIGO LAKE – The Eighth Fire is growing stronger. A group of youth from Sachigo Lake are starting a journey. Five youth from Sachigo First Nation, all are former students from Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School in Thunder Bay. The three young men and two young ladies will walk from Sachigo to Thunder Bay.
The journey will start on Friday.

The Walkers will be joined by other youth when they come by Weagomow.
Tom Kam, the President and CEO of Wasaya Group Inc comments, “Pray for the youth for their safety as they kick off the fund raising compaign for the DFC Living Centre and Youth Centre. Please support their fund raising compaign by donations, sponsorships, encouragement, and talking to your Chief and councils, your tribal councils, any organization you are involved in”.
“This is our future leadership on the move, this move is to prevent anymore tragedy and worse”.
Kam adds, “We as parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, leaders, our common goal and prayers are that they have a safe environment where they can study, our common wish and hope is that they will graduate from DFC. How amazing what our youth can do!”
The Wasaya Group Inc. has taken a leadership role with the public/private partnership with the City of Thunder Bay in creating Youth Centres Thunder Bay, and last week announced the Dennis Franklin Cromary Student Living Centre in a public/private partnership with the City of Thunder Bay, Confederation College and the NNEC.
Wasaya Group Inc. is answering the call from families and Chiefs of the member community owners of the First Nation run corporation.
